We managed to fix Postfix, which has been giving us issues for some time now, and have successfully re-enabled password resets (and all other E-Mail-dependent functionality of the site). Please be sure to file a Bug Report should you notice any problems on the site, especially concerning E-Mail functionality (Password Resets, Basic 4, Basic 5, etc.).

So, HackThisSite (and RootThisBox) attended CarolinaCon '08, and had an awesome time. We attended many events and even held one of our own. RootThisBox held an event with three donated servers, and the competition was a success. We had a few people compete, and we would like to congratulate m0untainrebel on winning the competition. Of the events we attended, some included ZFS on FreeBSD, Layer 7 Attacks, Rootkits, and Hacker Trivia. All of these events were pretty awesome and informal, and the convention was a huge success. Plus the parties were amazing.

We would also like to make some shout-outs to some people who made this happen:
* Kage, wired, pacifico, kussik, apples, Neme, m0untainrebel, and many others for attending and representing HackThisSite and RootThisBox.
* Greyhound for making us feel like our muscles were raped, and causing delays that screw over entire itineraries.
* My friends who drove me (Kage) to Pittsburgh to catch my Greyhound, and obtained a flat tire in the process. Much illegal non-sexual fun was had within the car. Also, thanks to coincidence, which allowed for another of my friends to be in Pittsburgh soon ..

HackThisSite.org has been doing a bit of restructuring. First off, if you used to be a moderator or a developer and find yourself without access, don’t be alarmed, you’ve been temporarily removed until we can sort out who is who and who will be an active developer or moderator. If you’d please catch Wyrmkill on IRC, let him know what position you held and you and he can schedule a reinterview for your position to determine your current skill and availibility.

Speaking of Wyrmkill, HackThisSite.org has gone under a major restructuring. Those of you who haven’t been on IRC or HackThisSite.org as of late may not be aware of this, so allow us to inform the masses. The first thing that happened is that Wyrmkill took over as the head HackThisSite Admin under the role of Lead Developer. ScrAm has been named HackThisSite IRC Admin. wired remains the RootThisBox Admin. Kage and wired will remain Systems Administrators (maintaining the servers and maintaining their own projects). Other staff, including HackThisSite and sub-project developers, moderators, and operators are being assigned as interviews progress, thus a final list has not yet been determined.

HackThisSite.org (LIVE site, as in the one you are currently looking at) is accepting open applications for PHP Developers and Moderators. The rules to apply are as follows:

Developers
Submit a portfolio compiled of various PHP projects you have coded, with proof of experience and familiarity of PHP OOP. Portfolios must include a wide variety of projects or code snippets, showing various ranges of expertise (Sanitization, MySQL Wrappers, Front-End Interfaces, Back-End Modules/Engines, Modularization, OOP, etc.). Developer applicants will also be asked to develop some PHP code during their interview within a certain time limit to prove expertise in this field.

Update: Developers must also show an expertise in protecting against XSS and CSRF, as well as other common exploits and code flaws. This will also be part of the interview process.

Moderators
Submit a portfolio of areas where moderation has been a requirement, such as forums, IRC Oper, or other large websites with content moderation. The portfolio must also contain a brief paragraph detailing abilities to moderate technical cont..

It is imperative that each and every member of HackThisSite goes to this poll and reads the associated thread and votes on this issue.

The basic premise of the issue is whether or not to merge HackThisSite.org and RootThisBox.org with CriticalSecurity.net (our forums site), and make CS the portal for which all HTS projects are held under with the advent of the new HTS (v4, our version of Duke Nukem Forever, which is being deployed in September...for real this time).

The reason for it is essentially this: HackThisSite.org, though the name is known, is also surrounded by notoriety and a lack of actual teaching and knowledge sharing that which is our goal. Thus, with the deployment of HTSv4, we intend to drastically change HTS in a whole new direction than it is currently going, and we would like a more professional-sounding name to go along with it, which we think "Critical Security" has already achieved.
